SFLSpring Football League

The Spring Football League existed for just one mini-season. The SFL announced its formation on March 1, 2000, saying its goal was to test cities, fans, stadiums, the media, entertainment, and football as a product. Bill Futterer, director of Spring Football League, said the league would play a four-week season on Saturdays from April 29, followed by a championship game in Miami on May 27. But after just two weeks of play, SFL ended season with two games left. SFL officials vowed to be back for 2001 season with full schedule and eight teams, but the creation of the XFL snuffed out any chances that the SFL had.

The SFL ball is the same Wilson model used by the NFL.
